Financing

MSc in Sustainable Energy Development

 

Tuition and general fees are due no later than the indicated deadline in each term. Further information on how to pay your tuition and fees is located on the university’s fee website.

SEDV Tuition

As a course based program, students are assessed tuition based on course enrollment each term. Please visit the University of Calgary Calendar for more information.

General Fees

All graduate students are assessed general fees, which are subject to change without notice, each year. These fees are in addition to tuition and include the Graduate Student Association fees, group insurance, extended health and dental insurance, UPass (transit pass), campus recreation, etc. For a detailed breakdown of the general fees, please visit the Faculty of Graduate Studies website.

Scholarships

Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI) Graduate Scholarship

Award amount: 

The Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI) Graduate Scholarship is $15,000 to two students each year.

Selection criteria:

Open to full time, first year students registered in the SEDV program. This scholarship is awarded based on the overall admission application and a one-page submission describing how your research relates to Canadian energy, economics, policy, and sustainability.  

How to apply:

Application instructions will be provided once your admissions application has been submitted. The scholarship application deadline is December 31. 

Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI) Indigenous Graduate Scholarship

Award Amount:

The Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI) Indigenous Graduate Scholarship is $36,000 to one student each year. 

Selection Criteria:

Open to Indigenous students (Canadian First Nations, Metis or Inuit) registered in the Master of Science in Sustainable Energy Development program. Students must complete a non-intrusive (non-trauma) statement (approx. 100 words) outlining their EDI eligibility.

Application instructions will be provided once your admissions application has been submitted. The scholarship application deadline is December 31. 

Fennel Sustainability Graduate Scholarship

Award amount:
The Fennell Sustainability Graduate Scholarship is $6,500 to one student each year.

Selection criteria:
Open to full time, first year students (Canadian/ Permanent Resident) registered in the SEDV program. This scholarship is awarded based on a one-page submission and the overall admission application package.

How to apply:
Application instructions will be provided once your admissions application has been submitted. We recommend applying by December 31. 

 

Roger and Mona Creasey Memorial Graduate Scholarship

Award amount:
The Roger and Mona Creasey Memorial Graduate Scholarship is $2,200 to one student each year.

Selection criteria:
Open to students registered in the SEDV program. This scholarship is awarded based on the student’s area of research, which must relate to the cumulative effects of energy development activities in Canada on a species or ecosystem leading to recommendations for its conservation or management.

How to apply:
No application is necessary. A recommendation will be made based on the student’s capstone research project.

School of Public Policy MSc in Sustainable Energy Development Scholarship

Award amount:
The School of Public Policy MSc in Sustainable Energy Development Scholarship $5,000 to $10,000 to twelve students each year.

Selection criteria:
Open to students registered in the SEDV program. This funding is awarded during the admission cycle and may be offered as an entrance scholarship.

How to apply:
No application is necessary. A recommendation will be made based on the student’s admission application. We recommend applying by December 31.
