Master of Public Policy

General Fees

All University of Calgary students pay general fees that cover various campus resources, including transit passes, health and dental insurance, etc. For the most up to date general fee information, see the Graduate Calendar.

Tuition

Tuition for the Master of Public Policy program is structured as a program fee rather than the traditional course-based fee. The total cost of the program is split between Fall and Winter terms, which must be paid by the deadline associated with that term. Funding Sources

The School of Public Policy offers generous scholarship support for qualified applicants. Some funding sources are listed here, but you are encouraged to seek out other funding opportunities.

Master of Public Policy Scholarships

The School of Public Policy provides awards for students during the course of their program. You are automatically considered for these awards when you apply for admission to the MPP. All of our scholarships are based on academic merit.

Research Assistantships

School of Public Policy faculty members and fellows often offer Research Assistantships of up to $5000 to qualified students to help support them through the program. Applications will open in September each year, for that year’s cohort.
 

Donor Funded Awards

The following scholarships were donated to the School of Public Policy by our community partners for students during the course of their program. All of our scholarships are based on academic merit and the specific eligibility criteria of each award. Interested applicants will signify their interest during the admission process.

Gerald Schwartz and Heather Reisman MPP Israel Scholarship

Award amount:
The Gerald Schwartz and Heather Reisman MPP Israel Scholarship is $20,000 to one student each year.

Selection criteria:
Open to international students registered full-time in the Master of Public Policy program and required to take The Multi-Faces of Israel course.

How to apply:
No application is necessary. A recommendation will be made based on the student’s admission application.

Elbow Trust Graduate Scholarship in Public Policy

Award amount:
The Elbow Trust Graduate Scholarship in Public Policy is $15,000 to one student OR $7,500 to two students each year.

Selection criteria:
Open to students registered in the Master of Public Policy program with an area of study focused on Alberta policy.

How to apply:
No application is necessary. A recommendation will be made based on the student’s admission application.

Mintz Family Scholarship in Policy Excellence

Award amount:
The Mintz Family Scholarship in Policy Excellence is $20,000 to one student each year.

Selection criteria:
Open to students registered in the Master of Public Policy program with an area of study focused on a related field to tax policy.

How to apply:
No application is necessary. A recommendation will be made based on the student’s admission application.

Pink House Foundation Graduate Scholarship on Youth Homeless

Award amount:
The Pink House Foundation Graduate Scholarship on Youth Homeless is $10,000 to one student each year.

Selection criteria:
Open to students registered in the Master of Public Policy program with an area of study focused on a youth homelessness.

How to apply:
No application is necessary. A recommendation will be made based on the student’s admission application.

Scotiabank Graduate Scholarship in Public Policy

 

Award amount:
The Scotiabank Graduate Scholarship in Public Policy is $30,000 to one student each year.

Selection criteria:
Open to students registered full-time in the Master of Public Policy program with experience with international exposure.

How to apply:
No application is necessary. A recommendation will be made based on the student’s admission application.
