The MPP is an intensive 12-month program that prepares students from a wide range of academic backgrounds to work as policy professionals. This cohort-based program begins each August with an expected completion by August of the following year.
MPP Students are normally required to complete PPOL 600 Introduction to Public Policy course, eight (9) core courses (one of which involves completion of a capstone project in which they apply the skills they have learned to a well-defined issue of public policy) and two (2) elective courses. The final product of the capstone project is expected to be a high-quality research report. Work on the capstone project will be jointly guided by a School of Public Policy (SPP) faculty member and an expert from the private sector or government.
The MPP is a classroom-based program offered at the University’s Downtown Campus with a blend of morning, afternoon, and evening courses. Each course is offered once over the 12-month schedule. From May until the end of August, students focus on their independent capstone project.
