Students in the Master of Public Policy program have the option to broaden their expertise and career opportunities through a combined degree with a Juris Doctor (JD), offered in collaboration with the Faculty of Law. Over three and a half years, the MPP/JD program integrates legal training with public policy expertise, giving students a deeper understanding of law and the policy insight needed to work in complex, multi-sector environments.
Students engage with topics including resources and the environment, economic and social issues, international policy, taxation, regulation, and public finance. By combining these disciplines, students strengthen their analytical, strategic, and leadership skills and their ability to influence decision-making across industry, government, and the non-profit sector. Graduates are prepared to lead in settings where coordinated legal and policy knowledge is essential.
To pursue the JD/MPP, applicants must apply separately to both the Faculty of Law and the School of Public Policy. Admission to one does not guarantee admission to the other; students must meet the requirements and be accepted into both programs to enroll in the combined degree.
